Strengthen countries’ institutional, legal and financial frameworks for the forestry sector.

Mid-term Objectives and programmes
 

The FAO Forestry will assist member countries to analyse, design and/or revise normative and organizational structures that can meet national and international demands, and to develop the management skills needed to implement sectoral policies and programmes. FAO will support extension and the development of methodologies for the accommodation of multiple interests, as well as forest research and education.

The 20th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF20) presents a pivotal opportunity to tackle the critical issues surrounding land degradation, particularly in dryland areas , which cover about 41% of the Earth's land surface and are home to approximately 2.5 billion people, about 25 percent of the global population.
