UN Tree Planting Ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of founding of the United Nations, and the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.



In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the founding of the United Nations, Hibakujumoku (Atomic bomb survivor tree) will be planted in the UN Staff Garden as a symbol of peace and resilience for the people and the planet .The ceremony will be attended by the President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Philemon Yang; the Permanent Representative of Japan to the UN, H.E. Ambassador Kazuyuki Yamazaki; and the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Under-Secretary-General Izumi Nakamitsu.
